For Writing, we edited spelling using a red pen. For this step, we start by circling words we suspect may be spelled incorrectly. We then apply one of the spelling strategies from the spelling strategy chart. We can use the back of our writing paper for space to use the strategies.

Spelling Strategies:
  • Stretch it out. Listen for sounds.
  • Find the word where you think it may be.
  • Spell each syllable.
  • Try a different spelling from S.S. cards.
  • Write it 3 different ways. Pick the best.
  • Recall a spelling rule or hint.

For Writing today, we began the editing process using our red pen and narrative writing checklist (Schoology> Writer's Workshop> Narrative> Student Checklist).  We checked for punctuation ending sentences, commas in a list and dates, and made sure to captilize proper nouns.
